Each year since 2012, a team of Year 12 students from The British School in the Netherlands get involved in a development project at Ndege Primary School in Njoro, Kenya. The essential aim of Project Africa is to provide and enhance basic school facilities at Ndege Primary, to grant its pupils better opportunities and prospects for the future, something that too many people of our privileged background take for granted.
The Project has so far succeeded in the construction of 3 classrooms, 2 libraries, a toilet block, a science laboratory, water collection and storage tanks, as well as planting avocado plants which have enabled the completion of a four year breakfast programme, providing breakfast for 750 students each morning for a Year.
The aims of the 2017 Project Africa Team are to complete the construction of another classroom and to further support the breakfast programme. Their goal is to fundraise at least 20,000€ to purchase building equipment and to finance the breakfast programme.
At the Fair they will run a Cheese & Wine themed Raffle with tickets costing just 1€ each. They will also have a Tombola for kids and a Chocolate Inspired Bake Sale! Be sure to visit their stand near the Food Court and support the worthy cause of this motivated group of Year 12 students.
